How is EMDR different?
EMDR therapy does not require talking in detail about the distressing issue or completing homework between sessions. EMDR therapy, rather than focusing on changing the emotions, thoughts, or behaviors resulting from the distressing issue, allows the brain to resume its natural healing process. EMDR therapy is designed to resolve unprocessed traumatic memories in the brain. For many clients, EMDR therapy can be completed in fewer sessions than other psychotherapies.

How often do we meet?
Preparation Phase:
Two - 90 minute Virtual Appointments
During these 2 sessions we will complete assessments to determine your strengths, current level of functioning and our focus for treatment. We will determine your current ways of coping and practice others that could be beneficial during the EMDR process.
Treatment Phase:
Scheduled in 4-6 hour time blocks during the weekend
There will be structured breaks between sessions for meals, self care, and rest. You will be provided resources to help you re-regulate your nervous system after session. Follow Up Phase:
Two - 90 minute Virtual Appointments
We will meet to assess your progress and any changes that have taken place and how to navigate them. We will celebrate any successes and wins. We will process any additional stressors and plan the next course of action.
